Short-term paid industry placements available for late-stage PhD candidates

We are currently recruiting for the next round of iPREP commencing 28th September 2020. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to earn some money ($4,000) and gain valuable industry skills.

What is iPREPWA?

iPREP is an Industry and PhD Research Engagement Program that provides PhD students the opportunity to gain industry experience while using skills gained in their PhD to solve an industry problem.

What will I be doing?

If successful, you will be working in small inter-disciplinary teams with other PhD students from the 5 universities in WA. You will work on a project full time for 7 weeks at a participating organisation. In previous rounds, students have worked with CSBP Fertilisers, CSIRO, BankWest, Water Corporation, CBH Group, Department of Culture and the Arts, Department of Health and CingleVue. iPREP is open to all industries and disciplines!

Who is eligible?

1.PhD candidates who have submitted their thesis for examination by Monday 10th August AND will not have your degree conferred (all revisions approved and degree awarded by the Board of Examiners) until after the completion of the iPREP program (Friday 13th November).

2.Domestic-enrolled PhD candidates who have Confirmation of Candidature and have consumed at least 2 EFTSL (2 years equivalent of study).

Deadline for applications is 10th August 2020.

Research Assistant vacancy

Kurongkurl Katitjin at ECU is looking for a Research Assistant to work on a project there in the education space. It will involve distributing surveys, conducting focus groups, transcribing and some administration tasks. The work will be about 20 hours. This project will be starting Monday, 27th July and concluding at the end of semester.

  • Qualitative data collection experience needed.
  • Education background preferred but not essential

iPREP Biodesign - PhD Student Applications OPEN!

Do you want to solve problems in the healthcare industry from the comfort of your own home and get paid?

iPREP WA has collaborated with Perth Biodesign to produce a new opportunity for PhD students to access healthcare industries to solve pressing healthcare issues using online collaborative technology. The program provides mentoring which leverages the Biodesign methodology developed by Stanford University, and focuses on developing innovation and improving processes in the healthcare sector. Eligible PhD students from the five Western Australian universities, with a relevant skill set, are selected to work on a project remotely over a seven week period.

Time for Research with Hugh Kearns

The University of Notre Dame’s Research Office is delighted to host Hugh Kearns for our final event for 2019. He will be presenting a 3 hour workshop 'Time for Research - time management for academics, researchers and PhD students'.

Do you feel like you never have enough time to get to your research, particularly the writing part? This workshop shows you how to guarantee you spend high quality time on your research. It covers prioritising, goal setting and managing competing demands in an academic context. If you want to increase your research output without compromising your work/life balance, then this workshop is for you.
