Ethics Support Assistant

A casual, three month position is available in the Office of Research and Innovation at Edith Cowan University. You would be expected to work up to 20 hours a week. 

The position will provide timely and effective support to the Research Ethics team in an environment that may require a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality. 

The role will provide administrative support in a range of tasks including:

  • Assist with the administration of the University’s Ethics Committees
  • Assist with the maintenance of computer systems that support the submission of ethics applications
  • Monitoring and following up on the submission of Annual and Final Reports
  • Monitoring and following up on approved ethics applications
  • A range of administrative tasks, which may include filing, meeting organisation, archiving files, printing of education/training resources

Final Stage PhD Industry Opportunity with Scholarship

Are you a PhD student in your final stage of candidature and planning on submitting your thesis before 6 February 2017? iPREP WA are currently seeking student applications for Round 1, 2017 running from 20th February- 31st March. While your thesis is being examined students will receive a $3000 scholarship to work on a 6 week industry project and gain invaluable skills, including professional and self-development, enhanced employability skills, networking, interdisciplinary collaboration and exposure to new opportunities. Expression of Interest: Research into Countering Violent Extremism

The Global Issues Practice Centre (GIPCEN) invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified researchers (including students) and/or practitioners to undertake short-term (2-3 month) research projects into various subjects of interest in Countering Violent Extremism (CVE).

Research projects will be aligned to CVE strategies as defined in the UN’s Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism 1 and may address any of the following topics of interest:

1. The role and contribution of ‘Formers’ (former extremists) and/or Survivors of extremist attacks
2. Preventions or Interventions in CVE
3. Deradicalisation and Empowerment pathways
4. CVE Practices and Human Rights
5. Social Media and Online Narratives/Counter Narratives
6. Youth Engagement
7. Creative works in CVE

Up to THREE projects will be funded ranging from a minimum of AU $2,000 to a maximum of $10,000.

ECU Watermark GetLINKED! Series is a new and exciting initiative that aims to deliver a mix of presentations and practical workshops for industry, entrepreneurs and researchers alike, followed by purposeful networking sessions to link the world of academia with the business community.

ECU Watermark GetLINKED! Series - Session 6: DREAM, HUSTLE, BUILD

David McQueen is an entrepreneur and international speaker based in the UK. He is the Founder and CEO of Narratively Ltd, a professional development company, and founder of Magnificent Generation, a youth empowerment company. David travels the world speaking to organisations about the power of narrative as a fundamental pillar for their success.

David has worked with the likes of Sir Richard Branson, blue chip companies like Barclaycard, BP, BBC, Shell as well as many universities, schools and colleges. He has spoken at two TEDx conferences and is a TV presenter having hosted Virgin Media Pioneer, an online show for entrepreneurs, and CH4's Vocation Vocation Vocation in the UK, a show empowering students about future career choices.

David is a TED fellow, is married with two children, and is currently writing his first book called Success on Your Terms.

David will be sharing his story so far to inspire you to DREAM, HUSTLE and BUILD a life and career with success on your terms. David will also outline how to design and build companies to last. He’ll focus on three key stages of development including pitching for success.
