Published 20 Nov 2015, 10:32 am, by Holly Johnsen

ECU has become a major sponsor of Diner en Blanc Perth at the inaugural launch of the event in March 2016. The event will also showcase ECU also as part of the university’s 25th Anniversary celebrations.

The event itself currently takes place in over 60 other cities around the world and also takes place in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne on an annual basis. Next year sees it launch onto the Perth summer calendar and the Perth team would love to have ECU students on board.

Induction Training Session:
The initial time Commitment will be 1 x 2 hour training session at ECU Campus, keeping up to date with volunteer email communications and the event itself from 5-11pm. There is potential for students to be more or less involved and his can be discussed at the interview stage.

Volunteer Requirements:
• Meet and greet guests, direct for pickup of wine and beverages, ensure correct seating allocation, assist where required to enable the seamless and timely set up of guests in preparation for dinner. (6 students)
• Assist with the delivery of hampers, beverages and hired equipment to DEB guests at the beginning of the evening, as well as assisting guests with pack up and return of equipment at the end of the evening. The evening concludes at 11pm. (5 Students)
• ‘DEB’ roving ‘Butlers’. These students ensure that guests are comfortable, provide them with any equipment they may have forgotten and assist with general questions, enquiries or issues. Guests are expected to remain seated and enjoy dinner with those around them and ECU students can help us to do this by providing the above assistance. (10 students)
• Students would be asked to assist in one or more of the above allocations throughout the evening. We would also endeavour to give students the opportunity to enjoy parts of the evening and take in the visual beauty of the event.
Specific Event Experience:
• Gain experience in event production during the ‘Bump in’ and Bump out’ process – during the day of event. (Max. 6 students)
• Three ‘PA’s for the evening to shadow the three DEB hosts for the event duration. The three DEB organisers or ‘hosts’ are responsible for the following areas: Host 1 (Sponsorship, Event/ Entertainment Programming, Media), Host 2 (Staff Management, Event Set Up, Food and Beverage allocation) and our Host 3 (Media, Entertainment, Programming and IT).
