Studying: Master of Communications

“My name is Sugi from Indonesia. I am doing a Master of Communications at Mt Lawley Campus. Since my arrival in Perth in mid-May 2019 I have been involved in various volunteering activities with ECU and other organisations in Perth.

Prior to the commencement of Semester 1 2020, I took part in the orientation weeks at ECU. I found this opportunity extremely rewarding, because I can share my experience with new students and be able to help introduce them to the campus, the facilities, and the resources they can access.

I would have never been where I am now without the help of others and I feel obliged to give back to the community. It is through volunteering that I can do so.”

Volunteering and Covid-19

Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation ECU is postponing all physical volunteering events and programs for the foreseeable future. This is to assist with carrying out social distancing recommendations in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our staff and students.

The health and wellbeing of both the ECU community and external parties are at the forefront of our thoughts in these times.

It is however crucial that we as a community stay connected with those in need and actively participate in safe volunteering opportunities.

As a community we recognise the effect isolation is going to have on our society in the coming months. We are endeavouring to bring as many virtual volunteering opportunities to you so that we can continue to contribute and engage in volunteer activities, under the parameters defined by the current situation.
