Volunteers needed for UP ALL Night Walking marathon

Ronald McDonald House Charities are looking for “Safety Sam and Samantha" Marshals to direct people on the course and “Cheer Champions” toward the finish line at the UP ALL Night Walking Marathon!

This overnight marathon walk, starting after dark and ending at dawn, places you in the shoes of the parents who stay with us at Ronald McDonald House.

Up All Night: Sunday 30 November @ 7:30pm to Sunday 1 December @ 10:00am

About Roald McDonald House Charities

Every day, in the early hours of the morning, there are families at Ronald McDonald House who have been up all night. They are safe, comfortable and cared for so they can give their child all the love and support they need.

Ronald McDonald House is an essential service for thousands of families with seriously and critically ill children. Some need us for a night, some for over a year. Our mission is to keep families together during the most difficult of times. We believe children are stronger and brighter together with their family throughout their medical journey.

We provide quality accommodation, professional family support officers, learning programs for toddlers to teens, a business centre for parents to work remotely, meals, and a range of complementary health and wellbeing services and fun! It is a very special home away from home.

We couldn’t exist without the support and generosity of our fellow West Australians. Our community deeply understands the challenges for regional and remote families with sick kids. Together, we are a community that helps families from all walks of life because being together is the best medicine of all.

This overnight marathon walk, starting after dark and ending at dawn, places you in the shoes of the parents who stay with us at Ronald McDonald House.

Volunteering and Covid-19

Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation ECU is postponing all physical volunteering events and programs for the foreseeable future. This is to assist with carrying out social distancing recommendations in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our staff and students.

The health and wellbeing of both the ECU community and external parties are at the forefront of our thoughts in these times.

It is however crucial that we as a community stay connected with those in need and actively participate in safe volunteering opportunities.

As a community we recognise the effect isolation is going to have on our society in the coming months. We are endeavouring to bring as many virtual volunteering opportunities to you so that we can continue to contribute and engage in volunteer activities, under the parameters defined by the current situation.
